Testimonials

“Mike and the team at Vareika Construction are the finest general contracting team I’ve ever worked with as a project manager. The Simes House Foundation Building Committee members and the community are all extremely pleased with the quality of workmanship and the final result. Simes House is an eye-catching marvel and a focal point in the Village of Manomet in Plymouth. In all ways our expectations were exceeded, and a hallmark of Mike’s work ethic is that many minor enhancements were made during the course of our project at no additional cost to us. This included the installation of historic window sash locks that were salvaged from another historic property, and a sunburst design adjoining the two porches. Both were unexpected and provided at no extra cost to us. Perhaps more significant, the project was completed on time and below budget, and the results speak volumes for the kind of work Mike Vareika takes pride in.

The craftsmen employed by Vareika Construction were friendly and outgoing, professional in all our meetings, experts in their trade, and consistently went out of their way to assure a complete and thorough restoration. We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality and commitment of the subcontractors hired by Vareika Construction. It was hard to tell who was a direct employee and who was a sub when all acted like they wanted to be on our job.

During the course of construction, Vareika Construction personnel kept the house and grounds in good order, and supported us without fail whenever we conducted public tours to promote our mission. Weekly reviews were regularly attended by the general contractor, foundation building committee members and the architect. The excellent teamwork, anchored by the willingness of Mike to patiently explain each step of the project, carefully present options as we unraveled 150 years of wear and tear, and fairly deal with us whenever issues cropped up, were key to project success.

We hope to work with Vareika Construction again in the future. Frankly, our only disappointment is that we are not working with them now. I wholeheartedly endorse Mike Vareika and Vareika Construction because they applied their talents and experience to our project with an energy and enthusiasm that was infectious. In today’s market, it’s rare to find someone who delivers more than they promise.”

“I first began working with Vareika Construction around 2000 when they won the bid for the Betton Branch Library- a beautiful historic stone building which was originally built as a private chapel for the Betton family. It is a one story structure with a high ceiling and a stained glass window on one side. The initial project was to replace the roof shingles. However, upon the review of our envelope consultant Russo Barr Associates further structural work was required. This consisted of re-aligning structural beams. During the work it was discovered that there were four sets of shingles needing to be removed and many of the roof beams needing to be replaced. All of the work was performed in a highly professional manner with a great deal of consulting and conversations between Jim Russo and Mike Vareika, the president of the company. The Belmont Historical District Commission was consulted on all aspects of the work and was very pleased with the workmanship of the of the project.

Due to the fine work done on the project I was happy to use the company on many future small projects that came up over my many years of working for the Town of Belmont as its Building Service Manager. They did a number of small projects on our Town Hall and its annex building the Homer Municipal Building.

The town was fortunate that in 2013 Vareika Construction won the bid to replace all of the windows in its beautiful Town Hall at 455 Concord Ave. This involved a great deal of consulting with our consultant Russo Barr and the Belmont HDC as well as the contractor. Much time was spent on choosing the correct color for the windows and trim. We also had to endure a long cold winter before the project could be finished. Due to the fine work of the contractor they were used to do extensive work on the 3 sets of double doors on the Concord Ave side of the building. Again the HDC was extremely pleased with the finished project.”
